Murray Leibbrandt Appointed to Executive Committee of International Economics Association

SALDRU’s director, Murray Leibbrandt, has been appointed to the Executive Committee of the International Economics Association (IEA). The IEA is a world federation of economic associations from both developed and developing countries.

Founded in 1950, the IEA aims to promote the advance of economic science and policy, especially on issues of global importance, through enhanced contact and understanding among economists from different parts of the world. Its mission is accomplished through the organization of scientific meetings and publications. This year the IEA’s 18th World Congress took place in Mexico from 19-23 June.

Murray travelled to Mexico to participate in his first IEA executive committee meeting. He chaired an invited session convened by the Agence Française de Développement on New Approaches To Understanding Inequality, Poverty and Social Links.
