Brendan Maughan-Brown has joined the J-PAL Africa team as its Research Advisor. His role involves providing strategic leadership and management oversight to the research division, developing new research opportunities for J-PAL affiliated researchers, and exploring opportunities for administrative data use in randomised evaluations in South Africa.
Brendan also continues in his position as a Chief Research Officer at SALDRU where he conducts public health research, with a focus on HIV. He is currently working on evaluations of interventions to encourage HIV treatment uptake among newly diagnosed men living with HIV, and to improve handwashing and health outcomes among young children. His other ongoing research focuses on understanding the role that age-disparate partnerships play in high HIV-incidence rates among young women.
