Prof. Arnim Langer is Director of the Centre for Research on Peace and Development (CRPD), Chair Holder of the UNESCO Chair in Sustainable Peace-building and Associate Professor of International Relations at KU Leuven. Prof. Langer has widespread expertise on issues of conflict and peace-building, the dynamics and persistence of horizontal inequalities, and social cohesion building in Africa.
He further holds a number of additional professional affiliations, including Research Associate at the Oxford Department of International Development (ODID) at Oxford University and Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia (UWA) in Perth, Australia. He was also recently awarded a highly prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship for Experienced Researchers, which he is currently taking up at Heidelberg University in Germany. Prof. Langer has published extensively on issues of ethnicity, horizontal inequality and conflict, including in a range of absolute top journals such as Political Analysis, African Affairs, World Development, Foreign Affairs and Social Indicators Research. He has also edited a range of books concerning these issues, including with Oxford University Press (2016) and Cambridge University Press (forthcoming in 2018).
