Emma is a graduate associate on the Siyaphambili project, where her PhD research is broadly focused on post-school education students and graduates in South Africa. Her research interests extend to language policy in education, poverty and inequality dynamics with a focus on education, as well as social policy and applied microeconometric analysis more generally. Emma has a passion for teaching, and is especially interested in classroom interventions which encourage student engagement & participation in learning.
She holds an MSc in Economics and Public Policy from the University of York (cum laude) and an MA (cum laude) in African Languages from the University of Cape Town.
