Online Stata Course: The Analysis of South African Household Survey Data

This course is a distance learning tool developed at the University of Michigan in collaboration with the University of Cape Town. The web course is intended to be a stand-alone learning tool. It is not, however, a fully comprehensive course in statistics for the social sciences. Rather, we hope that the online course will allow students who have taken some introductory classes in quantitative social science to begin to actually use South African data to investigate policy issues. While we try to offer some instruction in statistics along the way, the course is not a substitute for a more formal course. Perhaps the ideal use of this material is as a complement to an existing course. It is not intended to be specific to any particular discipline in the social sciences, but is rather targeted at anyone working in the fields of economics, political science, sociology, psychology or demography.

If you would like to register for this course please contact the course convenor Alison Siljeur at alison.siljeur[at]uct.ac.za who will create an account for you. This course is free and is self paced. You need to have Stata installed on your computer to do this course.
